hile livestock is essentially an economic good for its owner, pets are invested with sentimental value. The practitioner-client relationship is therefore on a completely different level. The practitioner receives the animals, accompanied by their owner, in his consulting room or in a veterinary clinic. He is sometimes required to go to the owner's home. The treatments it provides to pets are very varied and increasingly specialized.

In pet practice, more and more practitioners are being consulted for foreign animal species (new pets) that require specific expertise.
