Motion analysis in humans and animals, sound and lame, requires a close collaboration between medics (human and veterinary) and engineers.

E

valuation of forces applied to the locomotor apparatus during gaits relies on simultaneous measurements of ground actions forces (via force plate), muscles activity (via tele-electromyography) as well as 3D kinematics (via cameras and joint markers). MARU has at its disposal all the facilities allowing those measurements in human patients and small animals (dogs and cats). Analysis of those numerous data  makes possible the detailed characterization of lamenesses, the development of new implants/prostheses/orthoses capable of withstanding physiological mechanical sollicitations during gait as well as the monitoring of functional recovery after various orthopaedic treatments.
